The Princess and the Frog

The Princess and the Frog is the first black Disney princess in a movie. I find it insane that Disney didn't make a black princess until 2009! The movie is based all around the great city of New Orleans. The Princess and the Frog isn't just based on the girl finding her prince, this movie has more morals to it.

This movie is about a hardworking waitress named Tiana (Anika Noni Rose) who has been working her entire life in order to open up her own resturant. She has dreams, big dreams. While Tiana is on her way to making enough money to buy her own place, she crosses paths with Prince Naveen (Bruno Campos). The prince is then cast under a spell, which turns him into a frog. When Tiana walks into her friends bedroom, she sees the frog. Tiana jokingly goes to kiss the frog hoping that he will turn into a Prince. All of a sudden the frog starts to speak, begging for her to kiss him. Tiana is freaked out but finally agrees. When she kisses the frog, she too turns into a frog!

From that moment on Tiana and Prince Naveen must adventure all throughout New Orleans to try and find a way to break the spell. Along the way they encounter many mysterious friends. Tiana needs to break this spell as soon as possible so she can continue fighting for her dreams.

What I loved most about this Disney movie was that it wasn't like any other. This movie portrays working hard for your dreams and making them come true. Of course there is a prince, but Tiana is not royally a princess. I also loved how this movie was based in New Orleans, my best friend goes to school there and it isn't like anywhere else. There's constantly music and everyone is extremely friendly. Disney did a good job at using morals and showing essence of the New Orleans flow.

Rotten Tomatoes gives this movie an 85% and says, "The warmth of traditional Disney animation makes this occasionally lightweight fairy-tale update a lively and captivating confection for the holidays."

Precious

Life is hard... Life is short... Life is painful... Life is rich... Life is... Precious... These are the words from Sapphire's novel and movie Precious. Sapphire first wrote Push in 1996, a true story based on her life. This movie is heart breaking but inspirational. The acting is beyond believable, all the actors were truly able to portray the characters from Push.

This movie is about an obese 16-year-old girl named Precious (Gabourey Sidibe) who is pregnant with her second child, from her father. Precious lives everyday in agony, whether its her father raping her or her mother abusing her. Her mother Mary (Mo'Nique) despises Precious because her husband would rather have sex with her than his own wife. Every day Mary tells her daughter that she is fat and ugly, that she is worthless and wont ever be loved. Every time Precious is being abused, she imagines that she is a beautiful movie star, and everyone loves her. Precious never fights back until one night when she has had enough.

Precious never wanted her father to rape her and never wanted to hurt her mother, it was something she has lived with since she was 10-years-old. After Precious fights back with her mother she is kicked out of her house. She is also kicked out of school because she is pregnant. Precious moves into a half-way house where she learns to read and write. Her life begins to change.

Mo'Nique has always been known as a comedian, to see her playing a role of an abusive mother is very shocking, but extraordinary. She really becomes the character that shes trying to portray. Mo'Nique won her first Oscar for Supporting Actress. People Magazine says, "Even though she seemingly had a lock on the Supporting Actress Oscar, Mo'Nique triggered a welcome jolt that reverberated through Hollywood's Kodak Theatre when her name was announced. She first thanked the Academy 'for showing that it can be about the performance and not the politics.'"

This movie was undeniably amazing and if you haven't seen it... you really should.

Titanic

When Titanic first came out I was 7-years-old, but I still can remember going to see the movie in theaters with my family. When I was seven I obviously didn't understand Titanic as well as I do today, but I recall liking it as much as I do today. Its the perfect love story whether your seven or 47, although a little scary for a 7-year-old. This film was made in 1997 and was directed by infamous James Cameron, who also recently directed Avitar.

Most people have seen Titanic, and millions fell in love with it. The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio who plays a poor boy living his life day-by-day, and Kate Winslet who plays Rose, a rich girl about to get married to a wealthy man named Cal (Billy Zane). Jack and Rose meet on this "unsinkable ship" and fall in love the moment they see each other. Rose realizes that she does not want to marry Cal, and once the Titanic anchors she is going to get off the boat with Jack.
Before the Titanic is able to anchor, it hits an iceberg and the bottom of the ship starts to fill up with water. The unsinkable ship is going to sink. Jack and Rose fall deeply in love during a major crisis. Not only does Rose have to worry about her mother, Cal, and the ship men, but now her life is put in danger as the Titanic begins to sink.

This movie is filled with love, passion, death a disaster. This three and a half hour long movie keeps your attention at every scene. The digital affects in this film are unbelievable. For the last 13 years of my life I have watched Titanic over and over again, each time I gain a new appreciation for it. I'm sure I will continue to watch this movie forever. Leonardo DiCaprio was the first man I fell "in love" with, and I don't think I'll every grow out of it.

The Titanic is based on a true story (minus the characters) and therefore makes this disaster even more of a tragedy. Thousands of people are very interested in the sinking of the Titanic. People have become so interested that they even made a Titanic museum. Of course I went to the museum in NYC and it was very interesting. You start off with a card that has a persons name on it, then you go through the entire musuem, at the end you are able to find out whether your person survived or not. In the museum they have real models of the dinning rooms, bedrooms, staircase and even an iceberg that you can touch that is just as cold as the water the passengers died in.The Washington Post said, "You could stay awake till the wee hours extolling the extraordinary stunts, cinematography, production design and special effects of "Titanic." James Cameron's $200 million epic about the doomed ocean liner is easily the most visually stunning experience of the year. Of course, it should be. It's the most expensive production in movie history, and it had the demonically energetic Cameron at the helm." This just goes to show how amazing Titanic really is!

Finding Nemo

I have seen Finding Nemo at least over 30 times. I know every word, and every scene of the movie. From the first time I saw Finding Nemo I fell in love. This movie is perfect for adults and children, which makes it the perfect family movie. The movie is full of hilarious jokes and an adorable plot. The cartoon animation is incredible, PIXAR really came together to make an amazing film.

The movie first opens with clown fish, Marlin(Albert Brooks) who's wife and fish eggs were killed by a bigger fish. Out of the hundreds of fish eggs that were eaten, only one remained. Marlin decided to call this fish, Nemo, just like his wife wanted.

Years later Nemo (Alexander Gould) is starting to grow up and its time for him to start attending school. Marlin is extremly nervous for his son to leave the reef because Nemo is all he has. Nemo becomes fed up with his father being so protective. When Nemo is at the "drop-off" with his classmates, they start to set bets on who can swim out the farthest. Nemo goes to touch the "butt" a.k.a the bottom of a fishing boat, when he is captured by a fisherman from Sydney.

Marlin is freaking out and so nervous that his son was just captured. He starts to swim as fast as he can after the boat, but he cannot catch up. This is when Marlin runs into Dory,(Ellen DeGeneres) a blue tang fish suffering from memory loss. From then on Marlin and Dory swim across the deep blue in hopes of finding Nemo at P. Sherman 42 Wallabe Way, Sydney, by following the East Australian Current. They meet many interesting and funny characters along their journey.

Finding Nemo has become such a huge hit in American culture, that it even has its own ride dedicated to the movie at Disney's EPCOT. Children everywhere carry around little clown fish. Parents are able to enjoy the humorous characters. Even my 54 -year-old father loves this film. Rotten Tomatoes gives this movie a 98% and says, "Breathtaking animation, talented vocal work, and a well-written screenplay add up to another Pixar success."

The New York Times says, "
The humor bubbling through ''Finding Nemo'' is so fresh, sure of itself and devoid of the cutesy, saccharine condescension that drips through so many family comedies that you have to wonder what it is about the Pixar technology that inspires the creators to be so endlessly inventive." And they are exactly right.

If you haven't seen this movie... then that's a real shame.. YOU MUST check out the trailer below....

I Love You Man

I Love You Man is a hilarious movie about a friendship. Starring Paul Rudd from Knocked Up and Jason Segel from Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Rudd plays Peter Klaven, who's world revolves around his real estate work and fiancee Zooey. After Peter proposed to Zooey, she called all of her friends to tell them the news. Zooey asked Peter if he would like to call any of his friends, but he soon realized he didn't have any.

Peter overhears Zooey's friends hounding her about him being friendless. Peter decides he "needs some fucking friends."He needs to find his best man. Zooey, her friends, and even Peter's brother Robbie try to help him friend friends that lead to many awkward encounters.

Finally at an open house Peter meets Sydney (Jason Segel). They engage in a hilarious conversation and end up exchanging business cards. Later on Peter builds up the courage to call Sydney and invite him to get drinks. Soon they become good friends and what seems like a harmless friendship threatens Peters engagement and career.

I found this movie to be beyond funny. Paul Rudd and Jason Segel have been in many comedies together but this may be their best role yet! The New York Times says, "A man without a woman is like a pistol without a hammer, wrote Victor Hugo. But a romantic comedy without a female lead, well, that’s just a fine bromance and now Hollywood business as usual, as most recently demonstrated by "I Love You Man" a fitfully funny comedy that owes much to Judd Apatow, the king of such sublimated man-on-man affairs."

The Last Song

I know EVERYONE hates Miley Cyrus, but I had to see this movie because I read the book. The Last Song was first written by Nicholas Sparks and then became a movie directed by Julie Anne Robinson. If you can look past Miley Cyrus' annoying voice and corny music, then you will really enjoy the story line.

This movie is about a teenage girl named Ronnie (Miley Cyrus) who just graduated from high school. Her parents have been divorced for three years, and within those years Ronnie cut off all connections with her father. She holds a grudge on her father because she blames him for the divorce. Ronnie is soon told by her mom that she and her younger brother Jonah (Bobby Coleman) have to go live with their father in South Carolina for the summer.Ronnie is extremely pissed off and acts like a ridiculous teenager.

When Ronnie first arrives to her Dads (Greg Kinnear) she ignores everything he says, storms out of the house, and heads towards the beach. When Ronnie is at the beach she meets a sexy and buff volley ball player named Will (Liam Hemsworth). Will is not the typical guy that Ronnie is ever interested in, but there's something about him that drives her crazy.

Ronnie spends the rest of her summer falling in love with Will and bonding more and more with her father and younger brother. When the summer starts to come to an end Ronnie does not leave. She has fallen in love and has gained a strong connection with her father. Ronnie soon discovers that her father has cancer, and has had cancer for almost a year now. The whole reason as to why Ronnie and Jonah were sent to live with their father for the summer was because he's dying.

When you first watch the trailer to this movie you would not think it would be as depressing as it is. Even reading the book I could not stop crying. I love the story of this movie, however the acting was a little cheesy. The book was definitely a hundred percent better. If you like corny, romantic, and depressing movies, then this movie is great for you!

The Los Angeles Times says, "Those hungry for this kind of calculated, faux-emotional escapism can order the usual from this familiar menu, and really, what's wrong with that? There was audible sobbing in the screening this reviewer attended, so somebody cares. But for those wondering if the continuing popularity of such exercises might make this one worth the ticket price, the same effect might be achieved by writing names and obstacles (make some tragic) on index cards and tossing them in the air."

The Los Angeles Times has this film figured out. If your into Nicholas Sparks movies like The Notebook or Dear John, then you'll love it. If you don't like his movies, then DO NOT see it.

Up

Up is one of the best cartoon movies I have seen in a long time. It is full of love, comedy and good morals. The movie starts off with Carl Fredricksen (Edward Asner), a shy and quiet young boy who meets a young loud and energetic girl named Ellie (Elie Docter). They discover that they both have the same hobbies of exploring. They plan explore all over the world. Ellie tells Carl of an idea to movie their club house on a cliff right next to a water fall in Paradise Falls, South America.

Ellie and Carl wed and grow old together. For years they saved up for South America, but never made it there. Ellie dies of old age and leaves Carl in the world alone with no reason for living. He is still living in their house that they built together years ago, when he is court ordered to move into Shady Oaks Retirement Home because he attacked a construction worker outside of his house.

78-year-old Carl decides he is going to keep his promise to his wife and go to South Africa. He ties thousands of helium balloons together and have they pour out of his house. With the balloons Carl plans to fly his house to Paradise Falls. After Carl is in the air he hears a knock on his front door. He finds 8-year-old Russel (Jordan Nagai) who is trying to earn his final merit badge for "Assisting the Elderly," on his front porch. With no way of getting home, Russell is along for Carl's journey.

The both of them encounter hilarious adventures while trying to make it to Paradise Falls. I found this movie to be heart warming and amazing. It really should the love a marriage has and how far a person will go to show their love. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Up made over $292,979,556 and received a review of 98%. This just goes to show how truly wonderful this movie was. Its perfect for all ages and keeps your attention the entire time. Pixar really knows what they are doing when it comes to making cartoons.

The Bounty Hunter

The Bounty Hunter is a romantic comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerrard Butler. Butler is stars as Milo Boyd, an ex-cop and recently new bounty hunter. Milo receives his dream job when he is given a case involving his ex-wife. He must go hunt Nicole Hurly (Aniston) and bring her to jail because she jumped bail. Nicole is an independent reporter who is working on what she believes to be a murder case.

Milo goes to Atlantic City and finds Nicole at the horse races. Once she realizes what Milo is planning on doing, Nicole makes a run for it. The rest of the movie involves more running away, leads on the murder case and a rekindle of a relationship. This movie is full of action, romance, and comedy.

Personally, I did not like the movie as much as I thought I was going to. Knowing that Gerard Butler was starring in this movie, I had to see it. I thought the comedy would be a lot like the Ugly Truth, but it wasn't. This movie was more about the love and mistakes a couple makes in life. The action is awful and the film was two hours long when it should have been a lot less. I found this movie to be dragged out and over-all boring. According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, The Bounty Hunter only came in as number three this weekend. The movie was given only a C+ and many reviewers hated it.

Recently there has been talk about Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler dating. I believe that these rumors have only surfaced for publicity. Both actors claim that they are just friends, even though in the spotlight they look like they are a lot more than friends. Aniston better be careful because just like every other guy she decides to date, Butler is a wild and horny man who can't hold anything back. According to Perez Hilton, Butler said, "But here's the thing - while they're accusing me of being with Jennifer, I've probably been off somewhere else doing some damage with someone else." I think that they would make a beautiful couple and have beautiful babies, but lets face it Aniston never gets the guy and this movie sucked so they needed some type of good publicity.

See the movie for yourself and give your own opinions. Check out the trailer below.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince based on the series, written by J. K. Rowling, was of course just like any other Harry Potter movie, very good. This movie resembled action, jealousy, darkness and emotion in just two and a half hours. Its series have come far in telling the life of the young wizard Harry Potter, who is played by Daniel Radcliffe.

The movie starts off with the wizard Harry Potter beginning his 6th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft. He comes across a book titled “This is the Book of the Half Blood Prince”. He uses the book that is filled with many different spells, to succeed further in his class assignments. Meanwhile Draco Malfoy (played by Tom Felton) is ordered by Lord Voldemort (played by Ralph Fiennes) to kill Albus Dumbledore (played by Michael Gambon). Albus Dumbledore takes the job of trying to get Harry Potter ready for his final battle with Lord Voldemort.

Harry potter and the half blood prince bring you into action and keeps you up in your seat. Every second you wonder what will happen next. The movie begins as a thriller and ends in an emotional conflict. This movie is based mostly off of romance verses adventure. In this movie every character is falling in love with another, even the old Dumbledore asks Harry about his love life.

Personally I found this movie to be more of a transformation movie, to bring us to the final book. I believe the other Harry Potter movies were a lot better than this movie because they related more to the book. There was a lot more that happened in the J.K Rowling story of the Half-Blood Prince that this movie did not offer. The Washington Post says, "Alas, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," though not without its excellent moments, doesn't tell the two stories that, at heart, the book tells. It doesn't present a compelling portrait of the birth, life and descent into inhumanity of the villain who has haunted this series from its opening scenes: Voldemort. And it doesn't make the budding romance between Harry and Ginny feel inevitable and true." I have to 100% percent agree with the Washington Post and their critics of this movie.

The Proposal

The Proposal is a hilarious romantic comedy starring amazing comedians Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. Sandra plays Margaret Tate, a bitch editor for a New York magazine. Ryan stars as Andrew Paxton, Margaret's slave and assistant who has been working for her for the past three years, giving into anything she asks for. He is working so hard in hopes of becoming an editor himself.

One day Margaret finds out her visa has been denied and she is being deported back to Canada. Nervous to be sent back and lose her job, Margaret tells her boss' that her and Andrew have been intimate for a couple months now and are engaged to get married. Andrew is freaking out but is unsure of how to react. Margaret tells him that if he pursues the marriage than she will make him an editor, otherwise he will lose his job and all his past three years of hard-work will mean nothing.

Andrew agrees to the fake marriage. In order to prove that they are not getting married just so Margaret can stay in the states, they have to actually convince everyone of their marriage, including Andrew's parents. Andrew and Margaret are on their way to Alaska for Andrews grandma's 90th birthday party and in hopes of convincing their family that they are in love.

Personally some parts of this movie I found to be a little bit too cliche, but over all I found it hilarious. My favorite part in the movie is when Andrew's grandma is in the woods with Margaret and tells her in order to let her stress and anxiety go she must dance. Margaret proceeds to dance to the song, "from the windows, to the wall, till the sweat drops down my balls."

This has been a huge year for Sandra after winning an Academy Award for best actress. She has been all over Hollywood this year, starring in amazing films including The Blind Side. The New York Times says, "America's Sweetheart and ''Miss Congeniality'' was repeatedly anointed as Hollywood royalty this year, sweeping awards season and capping it off with an Oscar for her role as a devoted mom in "The Blind Side."'Although the Blind Side was a more serious movie, check out the Proposal to get a more comedic performance from Sandra Bullock.

Casino

Casino is a movie that I never even heard of until my friends decided to watch it the other night. A main reason of why I probably never heard of it is because I was five years old when the movie was in theaters. None the less, in the opening credits it said "directed by Martin Scorsese," and I was hooked.

The movie is based off Nicholas Pileggi's book, Casino, which is inspired by a true story. My favorite types of movies are when they are based off of a true story because it makes the film seem more real and believable. The beginning of the film is a little slow and hard to follow. I actually had to watch it twice before I entirely understood the plot. The first hour of the movie explains all the characters and how they contribute to helping the Chicago Mob take over Las Vegas from 1970-1980.

The bosses convince Sam 'Ace' Rothstein (Robert De Niro) to come to Las Vegas and run the Tangiers casino due to his reputation as a gambling handicapper. Ace has many of his mobsters friends come help him run the Tangiers in order for them to steal profits from the casino without any authority noticing. Ace's childhood friend Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci) is sent by the bosses to overlook Ace and make sure all goes well. These mobsters are living the life by stealing millions everyday.

Ace's life takes a turn when he falls in love with a hustler, Ginger (Sharon Stone). He is trying to live a civilized life, secretive of all involvement in the Mafia, but his new wife Ginger makes it impossible for him due to all of her obvious scandals. Like Ginger, Nicky's ego grows even bigger when he comes to Las Vegas. He is constantly hustling the locals and murdering people because of his uncontrolled temper. Ace is unaware of the plans Nicky has for Las Vegas.

This movie is full of violence, disloyalty, cheating, money and the Mafia. Each part of Casino keeps you on edge, just wondering what these wild mobsters will get themselves into next. The acting is phenomenal, especially Robert Di Nero and Sharon Stone. Sharon Stone really transforms herself into a drug addict hustler who's only goal in life is to cheat her way to the top.

Learning that this movie/book is based off a true story, I had to do research for myself. I found an article called, Meet The Real Sam 'Ace' Rothstein: The Life of Frank Lefty Rosenthal. This article explains the real story behind the movie. Ace's character is based off of Frank Lefty Rosenthal, whose real life is very well portrayed in Casino. Nicky's character is based off of Anthony Spilotro, exactly like the character, Spilotro was a mob enforcer with a huge anger problem.

What I found most shocking when comparing this article to the movie is how at the end of the movie Ace goes to start his Cadillac Eldorado and it blows up. However, Ace survives the assassination because of the metal plate GM installed under the drivers seat in all their Cadillac's. When reading this article, the same story is told about the real Frank Lefty Rosenthal. It is extremely fascinating to me that he could survive such a deathly attempt of assassination.

I EXTREMELY recommend renting this movie, it will take you on a adventure like no other. Check out the trailer below.

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

Millions of people, including myself, saw Alice in Wonderland last weekend. The movie has made a record breaking $116.3 million, at the box office. Although Avatar set the record for highest grossing film of all time, it only made $77 million during its opening weekend. Despite Alice in Wonderland's record breaking earnings, it still does not match up to the films budget of $250 million.

There were many mixed reviews for Tim Burton's film. Some say you feel as though you're in Wonderland, while others claim Burton created a great canvas but not a great film. Personally, I believe the reason for so many disappointments contributes to all the high expectations of the movie. I thought the movie was amazing from beginning to end, however, I feel that Burton should have added more elaborate colors because when watching Alice in Wonderland your suppose to experience a psychedelic trip.

This Alice in Wonderland is not consistent with the original. Alice (Mia Wasikowska) comes back to Wonderland as a 19-year-old girl. She is all grown up and is convinced that she is having the repetitive dream she has had since she was a little girl. Like the Disney Cartoon, Alice is chasing a white rabbit when it jumps into a rabbit hole. Leaning over the rabbit hole, Alice falls all the way down the hole and into Wonderland. She meets various talking animals, including the Blue Caterpillar (Alan Rickman). The Caterpillar tells the other animals that she is not the right Alice.

Alice continues on her journey through Wonderland where she is constantly shrinking, growing and meeting new friends through strange encounters. She attends a tea party where she meets the Madd Hatter (Johnny Depp). The Hatter tells her that she is not the right Alice, yet. Alice is told the story of how the Queen of Hearts (Helena Bonham Carter) took the crown from the White Witch (Anne Hathaway) and consequently has made all of Wonderland mad. In order for the White Witch to redeem her crown, she must chose her strongest competitor to compete against the Red Queen's Jabberwocky.

I understand why many viewers may have had trouble with Tim Burton's film because it was not based on the Disney cartoon, but a combination of the cartoon and Lewis Carroll's poem from his story, Through the Looking Glass. I feel that Burton's twist really added something to the movie. It was not the same film that has been remade over and over again, but more like a sequel. Johnny Depp was absolutely outstanding in his role as the Madd Hatter. He truly became his insane character, making you have to look twice in order to actually see that it is Johnny Depp.

Despite all the reviews, I would go see Alice in Wonderland 100 more times. Each time you see this movie, you notice something new. I highly recommend that you don't listen to all the negative feedback and go see the film for yourself. If you have been living on another planet for the past year and haven't seen the trailer, check it out below.

The Ugly Truth

Gerard Butler
and Katherine Heigl star in a hilarious comedy with a romantic twist. Gerard plays Mike Chadway, a pessimistic T.V. host who believes he has all relationships figured out.Heigl plays Abby Richter, a romantically challenged news producer. The Ugly Truth really gets deep down into relationships and shows what men and women assume about each other. This film opens up a lot of "hidden secrets" that people don't like to talk about.

When Abby meets Mike, she cannot stand him and everything he stands for. Abby convinced that she will find the perfect man, the man of her dreams. Mike tells Abby that there is no such thing, all men want is some ass. Abby and Mike make a deal that he will tell her everything to do, from what she says to what she wears in order to make her neighbor fall for her. If her neighbor does fall for her, than Abby can't complain about what Mike talks about on her show.

There are hilarious scenes all throughout this movie, including some twists. Gerard Butler is an amazing actor and his character fits him well. Together, Heigl and Butler make a great couple for a movie. However, The Ugly Truth is just like any other romantic comedy. Girl meets boy.. girl hates boy.. girl falls in love.

Cinematical.com says, "The answer is because The Ugly Truth actually knows next to nothing about dating advice, the behaviors of men and women, or much of anything else romantically human. It's a factory widget created in a boardroom." They are exactly right, this film does not portray any correct behaviors that a relationship would have.

Law Abiding Citizen

Written by Kurt Wimmer, Law Abiding Citizen is an intense movie of redemption. It involves mystery, horror and action. Viewers are taken on a roller coaster ride through the life of Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler). Clyde takes it upon himself to teach justice after the justice system fails to do so.

The movie opens up with Clyde, his wife and his daughter. Two robbers break into his house and kill his family as he lays tied up and helpless. After the opening scene we meet Philadelphia prosecutor, Nick Rice (Jaime Foxx) who helps Clyde get "justice" for the death of his family. However, when only one robber, Clarence Darby (Christian Stolte) agrees to testify against the other, Darby is only given three years in jail while the other is given the death sentence. Clyde does not handle this settlement lightly. He describes the justice system as "fucked up." Clyde is distraught, he lost everything he loved in life. All he wanted was the robbers killed for what they did to him and his family, but because Nick made a deal with a murderer there was nothing Clyde could do.

Ten years go by and it is time for the robbers death trial, after the lethal injections are set in the robber is in agony pain, all his veins pop out of his body and he is killed. Lethal injections are made to be painless, Nick is on top of this case and knows someone planned this awful death. He first points his finger at Darby. The police think Darby got away but little do they know it was Clyde who caused the painful lethal injections and who now has Darby kidnapped in a warehouse. Clyde proceeds to rip Darby open while he is lying helpless and alive on a table. This was Clyde's revenge for his families death.

Afterwards, Clyde is placed into jail. He brings Nick and his co-workers on a wild goose chase throughout the rest of the movie. They believed that Clyde was just a normal guy who was mourning the death of his loved ones, but soon come to realize he is an ex-spy whose specialty was low-impact kinetic operations. There are more deaths, more action and extraordinary amounts of intensity. Clyde's only purpose is to make a point of how fucked up the justice system is. He questions what ever happened to right and wrong, why should murderer's be let out on the streets when they are so obviously guilty.

The acting throughout this movie is remarkably believable. Especially Gerard Butler, who really had to train his mind to look, act, and think like a murdering spy. In the beginning of the movie he starts off with sad emotions, by the end of the movie he just has blank stares of seeking revenge. The LA Times says,"Gerard Butler is crazy for 'Law Abiding Citizen': This is the Hannibal Lecter role." I believe the comparison of Clyde to Hannibal is perfect, even down to the caged in jail cell where Clyde is served steak and steamed vegetables after a bargain with the police.

I highly recommend seeing this movie. Your brain won't stop trying to figure out the mysteries. Check out the trailer below.

Alice in Wonderland

Since I was younger I have always loved Disney movies. I remember the first time seeing Alice in Wonderland, I had no idea what was going on. I didn't understand any of the songs or the concept of the movie. Now that Tim Burton's sequel Alice in Wonderland is coming to theaters March 5th, I had to watch the cartoon. Since I'm older I portray Alice in Wonderland entirely different.

The film is based on Lewis Carroll's novels, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Alice voice by Kathryn Beaumont (also voice of Wendy in Disney's Peter Pan) is a 12-year-old girl who gives herself good advice, but does not take others good advice. She has no patients and is very curious. One day when she is getting a lesson from her mother, Alice thinks of a world where everything will be different. When Alice sees a white rabbit (Bill Thompson) with a stop watch running fast saying, "I'm late I'm late I'm late for a very important date," she can't help but follow him.

Alice proceeds to fall down a rabbits hole, transporting her to Wonderland. She embarks on insane, or "mad" adventures, leading her to encounter a Caterpillar (Richard Haydn), the Cheshire Cat (Sterling Holloway), and the Madd Hatter (Ed Wynn). Alice grows and shrinks all throughout the movie when she eats a cookie and mushrooms. She is confused during her time in Wonderland, no one will answer her questions and she can't seem to keep the white rabbit around long enough to ask where he's going.

There have been many assumptions that Alice in Wonderland is based off of psychedelic drugs. Metromix.com says, "While on the surface it’s an animated story for children that explores the importance of self-reliance and a powerful imagination, it also features a hookah-smoking caterpillar who puffs in Alice’s face, a psychotic Queen of Hearts, mushrooms that change Alice’s perception of the world and enough psychedelic colors to cause an acid flashback." After watching this movie, I really do see the drug trip through Alice's experiences. Many say during the Madd Hatter's tea party, one of the tea pot's has a marijuana leaf on it. I did see the leaf on the coffee pot, but I most definitely can not say that it is for sure a marijuana leaf. Another assumption is when Alice eats the mushroom to grow bigger and smaller, she is on a shroom trip. Although many people believe Alice in Wonderland is full of references to drugs, no one is certain.

It is very ironic that a Disney children's movie is presumed to be about psychedelic drugs. This movie is loved by little children all over the world and by stoners everywhere, all because of the intense colors and the wild adventure's Alice is brought on. Check out the trailer below.

Requiem for a Dream

Requiem for a Dream is one of the most intense movie I have ever seen. A mother and son's drug addiction causes them to shatter all their hopes and dreams. This film really takes you into a lives of a drug addict. When they are tripping, you almost feel as though you are too. The movie really pulls you in, causing you to feel the characters pain and anguish.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky, Requiem for a Dream has an amazing cast who really capture the world of a speed and heroin addict. This movie is about Harry Goldfarb (Jared Leto) who is highly addicted to heroine, causing him to constantly take his mothers T.V. and sell it for money in order to buy drugs. Harry's mother, Sara Goldfarb (Ellen Burstyn) would do anything for her son because he is all she has left. Every time Harry sales her T.V, she buys it back. She doesn't want to offer her son money but can't say no to him. Sara soon gets caught up in the drug world herself. She recently finds out that she has won a contest to be on T.V. Sara becomes obsessed with loosing weight in order to fit into her red dress for the show. Sara goes to the doctor where he prescribes her speed and sleeping pills in order to help her to loose weight. The Doctor does not care about her health, he is just trying to make money.

Harry's best friend, Tyrone (Marlon Wayans), is his partner in the drug world. Together they shoot up heroin and try to sell drugs for a living. They are too addicted to even comprehend how to sell the drugs. Harry's girlfriend, Marion Silver (Jennifer Connelly), is just as caught up into drugs as Harry, Sara and Tyrone. Instead of shooting up heroin, Marion snorts it. The love Harry and Marion have for each other is real, but the addiction they have for heroin overpowers their love. When Marion can't find a fix she becomes desperate and ends up selling her body for heroin.

MovieRapture.com says,"There is not a performer who appears in the movie who does not give a vibrant life to his character. Ellen Burstyn exposes Sara's pathetic loneliness and isolation. Jared Leto has a wonderful edginess and hesitancy that allow the viewer to sympathize with the young addict. Marlon Wayans brings out Tyrone's innocence, and Jennifer Connelly reminds the moviegoer of the sadness of a young woman who is ultimately willing to do nearly anything to obtain the drugs she craves."

This movie takes you on a crazy adventure and leaves you thinking. Reelviews.net says, " Don't be fooled by the passively poetic title; there's nothing serene or restful about this motion picture. Requiem for a Dream gets under your skin and stays there." This statement is extremely true. After watching Requiem for a Dream you won't be able to stop thinking about the dysfunctional lives of these four characters.

The Big Lebowski

The Big Lebowski, directed by Joel Coen, is a movie that I would have probably never seen if my friends didn't make me watch it the other night. I never even heard of the movie before. To my surprise I thought it was very amusing. The comedy in this movie is more laid back, and the characters are extremely believable in that they aren't even trying to be funny.

This film stars Jeff Bridges who plays "The Dude," a stoner in his 40's who's real name is Jeffrey Lebowski. One day when The Dude is going to the bathroom two thugs break into his apartment and start to beat him up. However, the robbers mistaken The Dude for millionaire Jeffrey Lebowski (David Huddleston) who also happens to live in the same town. After the thugs realize they have the wrong guy they proceed to pee on The Dude's rug and leave. The Dude is extremely upset that the thugs just ruined his favorite carpet which "brings the room together." All he knows he is not going to be the one to pay for his carpet, so he finds someone that will.

The Dude finds Jeffrey Lebowski (who the robbers were really looking for) and tells him about the thugs. The Dude does not care what Lebowski got himself into, he just wants a new rug. After The Dude gets into a huge fight with Lebowski he leaves his office and tells Lebowski's employee's that he was told he could have any rug in the house.

Later when The Dude is home he receives a phone call from Lebowski asking for his help. Lebowski tells The Dude that his wife, Bunny (Tara Reid) was "kidnapped" and asks for him to deliver one million dollars to the crooks in order to find out if they are the same men who peed on his rug. The Dude and his partner in crime, Walter (John Goodman) are dragged through a wild adventure that they never expected. All because The Dude is mistaken for the towns millionaire, he encounters mission he never wanted to be a part of. All he wanted was a new rug for his run down apartment.

This film was made in 1998, which is probably why I have never heard of it before. The acting in this movie is very out of place for the actors, but I could not think of anyone else better to play these roles. It is a hilarious comedy that I highly recommend.

Anchorman

Anchorman is still one of my all time favorite comedy movies. Although it has many witty remarks, you have to love that sense of humor. If you enjoy any more starring Will Farrel then this is a must see. Its a hilarious spin off of the 1970's.

Former head writer of Saturday Night Live, Adam McKay and Will Farrel are the writers of Anchorman, which explains why this movie is so funny. This film is about sexist Ron Burgundy, (Will Farrel) San Diego's top-rated anchorman and the problems he encounters when a women, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) is chosen to be the new anchorman. Ron and the other anchormen, Brian Fantana, (Paul Rudd) Brick Tamland (Stever Carell) and Champ Kind (David Koechner) have a hard time adjusting to a women being an anchorman. The men give Veronica a very hard time at work by pulling perverted stunts to try and make her quit.

After Ron falls for Veronica he starts to accept her as another anchorman. However, Ron's love for Veronica will never amount to the love he has for his anchorman position. One day Ron has a traumatic experience causing him to miss his news cast. Veronica takes over Ron's position, and Ron is unable to handle this change. Ron and his co-workers embark on interesting adventures as they try and take back their news cast while trying to stay top rated.

Not only is Anchorman written by amazing writers, but they could not have got a better cast. Each character has a different attribute to them that you can't help but laugh at. The New York Times says, ''Anchorman,'' written and directed by a former ''Saturday Night Live'' head writer, Adam McKay, is studiously harmless." If you have not seen Anchorman you are missing out.

The Blind Side

The Blind Side, directed by John Lee Hancock is an all around touching and amazing movie. This movie really shows the love that a mother has for her family. It is a perfect film for men because of football and hard work, while at the same time it is perfect for women because it portrays the love of a family. I highly recommend this movie to all ages and all families.
The Blind Side is based on the 2006 book, The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis, which is a true story based on Baltimore Ravens player, Michael Oher played by actor Quinton Aaron. Michael is a 17-year old African American boy who has been in foster care his entire life. He would much rather be living on his own resulting in him always running away from his foster families. Michael is accepted into a private school called Wingate Christian School after the football coach realizes his size. Because Michael is noticeably out of place he becomes the talk of the town.

One night the Tuohy family, father Sean Tuohy (Tim McGraw), mother Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock), daughter Collins Tuohy (Lily Collins) and son S.J. (Jae Head) are driving home from a school event when they realize Michael walking on the road alone in the pouring rain. Leigh Anne tells her husband to pull over and proceeds to invite Michael home with them after realizing that he has no home to go to. As the story unravels Michael becomes part of the Tuohy family. Together the family work with Michael to help him become an A student and a fierce football player.

In order to truly understand the love that the Tuohy family has for Michael you have to see the movie for yourself. Not only did this film have an amazing plot, but the acting was phenomenal, especially Sandra Bullock. The Los Angeles Times says, "Sandra Bullock and newcomer Quinton Aaron have a warm and winning chemistry in director John Lee Hancock's fact-based story of a football-loving white family's adoption of a homeless black teen." My favorite thing about this movie is that its not a made up story, its based on the real life of Michael Oher and the struggles he went though to be where he is today.

Role Models

In order to enjoy Role Models you have to have a good sense of humor. Personally I found it to be hilarious but the sarcasm is very clear. To truly appreciate this movie you must go into it with an open mind due to many offensive scenes and crude language. Feminist, watch out.

Paul Rudd stars as Danny Donahue and Seann William Scott as Wheeler. Danny, a pessimistic man in his 30's woke up one morning realizing he has wasted the last 10 years of his life working as a salesman for Minotaur energy drink, a job he hates. On the other hand, Wheeler, Danny's perverted best friend could never be happier working as the mascot for Minotaur. Danny's day couldn't get any worse until he drives the Minotaur monster truck up onto a statue outside of a high school accompanied by Wheeler. Instead of the men receiving jail time, the court orders them to do 150 hours of community service at Sturdy Wings, a program designed to pair children with adult role models. Sturdy Wings in run by Gayle Sweeny, (Jane Lynch from The 40 Year Old Virgin) a kooky ex-drugy who does not want to put up with Danny or Wheeler's "bullshit."

Danny is partnered up with Augie Farks, Christopher Mintz-Plasse often recognized as McLovin from Superbad. Augie is a strange boy who is fixated on medieval times role-playing games and even gets Danny involved. Wheeler is partnered up with Ronnie Shields (Bobb'e J Thompson), a loud mouth little boy who is obsessed with "boobies." At first Danny and Wheeler can't stand their Little's, they have no idea how they are going to make it through 150 hours with them. They even contemplate whether jail is a better option. Danny and Wheeler stick it out and together these four embark on wild expeditions.

I was hysterically laughing in every scene of this movie. Peter Travers from the Rolling Stone says, "Sometimes a shamelessly stupid, proudly profane R-rated comedy is all you want out of life. Role Models more than fills the bill. It's killer funny." Each actor was perfect for the roles that they played. The biggest irony of this movie is that Danny and Wheeler are not good role models for any child, but they some how manage to become the perfect role model for their Little's. Not only is the plot hilarious, but touching as well.

If your still unsure of whether or not you would enjoy this movie, check out the trailer below

Introduction

Movies are the greatest way for someone to bring their ideas to life. Through a movie viewers are able to feel the emotions, the pain and the fear that the writer intended. Going to see a new movie is one of my personal favorite things to do. I love the excitement, the emotions and the drama. For about two hours long I am able forget everything that is going on in my life and I am to watch character's lives and see how they deal with the issues brought upon them. Through my blog I plan to talk about recent movies I have watched and hope to be able to get others views on how they felt about the in-particular movie.
